California Part III: Yosemite
There is something magical about Yosemite Valley and its National Park. We drove into the valley late at night and had no idea of our surroundings. The suspense of not being able to see where we were going was daunting as we could clearly feel that we were driving down into the valley between the tall Christmas like trees. There the iconic Camp Curry awaited us. Like something out of a movie. Before moving towards our heated canvas (i.e. tent) we had a pizza and a beer in the camp cafeteria and it almost seemed familiar. The perfect camp. Some watched football, while others played cards and board games.
Our tent was a different story. All food, toiletries, also the bottles of wine that we bought from the Napa, had to go into the bear box outside our tent. Apparently this was to ensure that the bears were not going to come looking for some mid night snacks while we were sleeping.
And then our "wow" moment as we woke up the next morning and saw our surroundings. The magnificent, magical, holy Yosemite Valley. We did a quick 3 hour hike but had to turn around as we still needed to make our way to Monterey by the coast that day. It was incredible.
I think the photos below does it justice in a way, but no photo can explain the peace and quiet, nor the magnificence of this special place.
Should have been a World Wonder - but most definitely a "must see".
