Lord Ferguson's 30th
Studying is done for a while and it was Gus's 30th and we decided to make a whole day out of it. It actually started off on Friday evening already, where we had the surreal experience of seeing (or rather doing) Sleep No More. Sleep No More is an interactive play of Shakespears' MacBeth in the McKittrick Hotel. But this is not just a play like we know it. Throughout the 4 story hotel you can see different scenes from Macbeth in different rooms - often finding yourself running behind an actor to see what is going to happen next. Blogging about this is definitely not going to do it justice - but I can promise you that it was one of the most incredible experiences that I've ever had - definitely art in its' most exquisite form. On Saturday we kicked off Lord Roy Ferguson's birthday celebrations with a tremendous amount of mimosas with brunch at Pastis. Then the girls had to go check out the new Kate Spade Saturday pop up shop - and frankly the only way that we were going to get mimosa-imposed Lanie and Gus to agree to this was by giving them Kate Spade Iced Lollipops. Everyone was happy.
We also had to find something to do between then and when we were meeting the remainder of the South African/American troops in the Standard Beer Garden below the Highline. So we decided to spend our time "on top of the world" - this was how the feeling of the Il Le Bain rooftop bar at the Standard Hotel was described by Mr. Ferguson himself.
After 12 hours of celebrations and another iPhone lost by the birthday boy, we could conclude that this was in fact one of the most fun NYC Saturdays we have experienced this far. I love New York City Summer.
